What our happy customers said:
Completed the longbow making course and now the proud owner of my own self-made longbow. Having no experince of woodworking prior to the course I found the Bowyer to be friendly, very knowledgable and supportative throughout. Highly recommended.
This was a great day out with a relaxed atmosphere, historic scene setting, friendly unstressed competition (if you wanted it) and lots of arrows to loose at the “enemy” targets. Out tutor is highly experienced and his focus was on ensuring we had a safe, fun day.
A great day out with coaching and equipment for all abilities and ages. Both my 11 year old son and myself thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with a chance to try a variety of different shooting games using the longbow. The events were interspersed with entertaining history (think horrible histories not some boring classroom history) of how the longbow was used in warfare and the battles which helped the English (and Welsh) rise to dominance.
It was a fun filled exciting day where anyone and everyone learnt through practice to shoot using the Longbows and arrows provided. Plenty of walking around the field. The day pasted quickly and was thankfully dry unlike the previous which was weather reminiscent of that at the actual battle of Azincourt
Great experience day with Now Strike Archery near Chelmsford course leader was very knowledgeable and gave us a history of the longbow as wel as teaching us to hit the targets would highly recommend it.
An awesome day. A great mix of hands-on practical tuition with the longbow and history of the use of the longbow in some of Britain’s most important medieval campaigns. You have lots of opportunity to practice with the bow in different styles of shoot. For those wanting to roll their sleeves up and get on with some good archery, this is perfect. Highly recommended!
May 30th – a brilliant day learning to shoot the long bow, even got to hit the final target which given its small size was a good achievement. Well worth the time and investment to do this day.
Adam is a top man and certainly no’s a thing or two about medieval history . He made it a very interesting way to learn about the history of the long bow and got us all firing arrows better than we thought possible . Highly recommend!
Really good time at the Archery! It’s really informative and there’s lots about history and how long bows have made it to Britain. There’s even a long bow/arrow craft class that you can go on to do! Lots of practice and very addictive! Would love to go again!
This was bought as a gift for me and I didn’t really know what to expect. It was a brilliant day out and Adam was an incredible storyteller adding some real perspective to what we were learning through some colourful examples in history.
As we got better through the day and hitting targets became an actual possibility I found myself wanting more arrows and time to do it and by the end of the day I was contemplating bribing Adam to allow me just three more shots… Great day and highly recommend.
Highly recommend this archery day out, full on experience with your own bow for the day. no sitting around apart for lunch. Adam our tutor was excellent in the history of the longbow and getting us back to a time when. Make sure you come with the right gear for the day as you are out walking in the fields. I really enjoyed my day hope you will enjoy yours, sure you will.
Well organised longbow activity day. The instructor gave an entertaining historical commentary about the longbow. Lots of opportunity to shoot some arrows. Good health and safety briefing.
A fantastic five hours of longbow archery and history (31st May) by our tutor and guide Adam, transporting us back to the invasion of France by King Edward 111. From the initial skill requirements of a peasant long bowman, to the battle of Agincourt a great mix of hands on action and historical story. I really wish I’d made the effort to dress the part, as five of our party did… I will next time. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.
This was one of the best activities we have been on. The day was educational, fun, fulfilling and more fun. Our tutor really knew the subject from a historical and technical perspective. He made the coaching enjoyable and entertaining. We were with a great bunch of people. The day was full and never boring.
This activity day is was a brilliant way to spend a Saturday. All of the archery skills we learned and round so that we were taken through were related to the historical battle and we learned the history of the skill as we progressed throughout the day. The bows and arrows were all made by the trainer and his team.
I got given this archery day as a 60th birthday present as I have always had an interest. Great group of people, really friendly and everybody got on well. The weather was a bit disappointing and we got a bit damp towards the end of the day. Very interesting talks throughout the day about the history of the English Longbow. Thoroughly recommended for all ages as the instructor had infinite patience with us.
Adam was simply brilliant. A really enjoyable day. A great learning experience all round. I’ve always wanted to shoot an arrow properly and the techniques taught by Adam made me feel I would like to continue and buy my own bow.
We had an excellent day at the Longbow Experience. It was so much a fun and Adam was really interesting. Luckily we had great weather too!
